The Assistants and Associates Committee held our first event on Wednesday night, May 27, at the Green Eye Lounge.  ASMP members, APA members, and non-members got to know each other and enjoyed browsing through prints from fellow photographers.

In the next few months, similar events will start happening more frequently, with the goal of creating a regular gathering every month or two.  Please feel free to contact committee chair Marc Altman at marc@marcaltman.com with any feedback on the evening or suggestions for future activities.

Assistants and Associates Committee Meeting Update

4/27/09

Eight acting committee members met to start planning our first event,
a social gathering to build the community of assistants and associates
in Chicago. It will provide an opportunity to learn about other
members in the area, and for people of all experience levels to
network and get to know each other.

While details are still being determined, it will probably be
Wednesday May 27th or Thursday May 28th. We’re contacting local bars
to find an appropriate venue and to negotiate drink and food
specials. The event will be open to ASMP members for free, and to non-
members for a small fee.

To stimulate casual creative discussions about photography, invitees
are encouraged to bring an 8×10 print of one of their images to share.

• Photographing events and writing articles for our newsletter and blog
• Gathering information about events across the Midwest
• Finding new ways to spread the word thru social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter
