“I Stick at Negotiating” – Blake Disher

By asmpchimw

If you didn’t get a chance to hear/see this at the SB2 event last year this was your opportunity to get a glimpse at what was so great about that event. Blake provided not only perspective but practical guidance based in his years of successful experience as a professional photographer. There’s was a wealth of information provided that placed the emphasis on your listening skills. This is always the first thing that comes to mind when you find yourself on the phone with a potential client. Some other key things discussed included:

Preparing for a negotiation
Increasing your clout
Knowing when to walk away

Comments from some of the attendees show the benefits of the session that were had.

“The most valuable thing I learned tonight was the sales technique of the golden silence. Blake likes to say that the first person who talks looses after a price is quoted to a potential client.”

“The most important thing Blake said tonight is to know the value of your work in relationship to other photographers, what sets you apart from them.”

“I’m motivated to be a better photographer – inspired to be a better salesperson”
